Budget Beachside Gaming on Everex's XT5000T |
![]() |
Summer is
just around the corner. Some will elicit effete cries of delight,
in anticipation of endless afternoons sipping pimms and
applying copious amounts of sunscreen to lobster like backs.
Personally sitting on the beach is about as exciting as watching
a quadruple omnibus of "Painting with Nancy". I can't just lie
there grilling on the sand like a big whopper, I need to be
entertained with dvds or games - laptop style. |

However the
beach is a dangerous place for an expensive gaming notebook
to be. The risk of getting sand in the keyboard, or a cornetto in
the cooling fan is extremely high. There's no way I'd risk a 2-3
grand Macbook
or Vaio
on a beach. Luckily there is a cheaper alternative available in
the unpretentious form of the 8.1 pound Everex Stepnote
XT5000T. Currently OfficeMax are offering this Stepnote for the discounted sum of $699.98 dollars. For that you get a 17 inch widescreen display (1440x900), 1.6GHz dual core 64 bit X2 Turion processor, 100GB hard drive, 1024MB of DDR2 RAM and 256MB of dedicated graphics memory courtesy of NVIDEA's GeForce Go 7600 GPU. Granted these specs are not inhabiting the realm of cutting edge, but who can argue with a bargain price tag of under seven hundred dollars? By Todd Gold - Laptopical Wednesday, April 25, 2007 |
