Some of you may not have realised it yet but that little laptop you bought is about the most versatile object you can own.
Ok, so maybe emails and spreadsheets are not exactly your thing and you're not excited by online profiles and social networking so you haven't got a laptop yet. Perhaps you don't relish the idea of carrying one around with you wherever you go either and so up till now you've resisted the temptation to succumb to the pleasures of having one. The truth is, if you fancy yourself as a cool dude then you should get one anyway, as being seen with a laptop is not only essential for elevating your street cred, they can be incredibly useful too. Here are just three alternate uses for your laptop but make no mistake, there are many more. Laptop as fly catcher Picture the scene! There's a fly buzzing around the room and it is causing you a significant amount of irritation. You lash out here and there but the beast with a thousand eyes always manages to escape the cup of your hands. In comes the laptop. You stand quietly with the laptop open and wait. Sooner or later the offensive fly won't be able to resist the temptation to come buzzing within arms length of you and your laptop trap. SLAP, you crash the laptop together and the problem is instantly solved. The fly is no more and you can get on with your life once again. Laptop as bedside lamp We must all have experienced at some point in our lives lying in bed reading a book or magazine without the energy or the inclination to get up or reach over and switch the light off. In comes the laptop again. Maybe you never thought about it before but your laptop can double as a bedside lamp. It gives just enough light to allow you to read and see what you need to without having the bright glare of a bulb above or next to you and when you're finished and ready to go to sleep you just slam the laptop shut. Easy as that! Laptop as sledge Remember when we were kids the fun we used to have sliding down snowy hills on anything that we could find like paper bags, cardboard boxes and so on? Well now your laptop can double as your very own portable sledge that you can have on hand wherever you go. So next time you find yourself at the top of a snow covered slope that you would normally have to walk down, all you have to do is open up the laptop and sit on one half with your legs on either side whilst holding the other half in front of you. Give yourself a little push off the top of the slope with your feet and you're away. Others who are struggling to keep their balance as they negotiate their way to the bottom will be amazed at your ingenuity as you whiz by. There really is no end to what your laptop can be used for. If you've come up with your own ideas then don't keep them to yourself, that's a bit selfish, why not share them with the rest of us.
