I want my DMB TV! - Samsung Laptops with Digital Multimedia Broadcasting Capability

Kiwi comedian Tony Follari once said - "You shouldn't spend your life watching Television.....Spend your life selling Televisions." Well Samsung in South Korea, a company at the vanguard of advanced silicon technology, are probably hoping that the notebook buying public ignore the first line of Follari's philosophy.

That's because they claim they have created the globe's first laptop computers able to receive land based digital tv signals - whilst mobile. Viewers should be able to capture, record and save any scenes they'd like from their favorite tv shows, while watching the digital broadcasts.

These latest Samsung laptops will be able to run the digital multimedia broadcasting (DMB) service, while connected by Wi-Fi to the internet.

Samsung will launch these notebook as soon as South Korea unveils it's terrestrial DMB services later in 2005.

There should be plenty of demand for these Samsung laptops. InStat.com predicts that the Korean DMB market will surpass 800 million dollars in annual revenue by 2010.

Kim Hun Soo, VP of computer systems is stated as saying:

".....The terrestrial-DMB laptop.....unveiled by Samsung Electronics for the first time.....has great significance.....it is the first to combine mobile Internet, broadcasting and computing services....."

The DMB service will be compatible with Windows XP from Microsoft. No U.S or European launch dates have been announced.
