Gateway's Edge Competition

Ever since I was a kid, when I first saw John Huston's directorial debut, "Maltese Falcon", I've harboured an irrational dream of being a private detective. I must have been inspired by Humphrey Bogart's gritty portayal of Sam Spade, a cynical private eye, patrolling the mean streets of San Francisco, in search of the bejeweled and mysterious "Maltese Falcon" statuette.

So why was this boyhood dream cast heartlessly aside, in exchange for the seemingly tedious world of laptop computers? One word my friends - CASH!

(You mean your extreme cowardice, and the the fact you couldn't punch your way out of a bag of kettle chips weren't factors? - Editor)

But now, it seems the dying embers of my dream have been rekindled, thanks to the generosity of Gateway's "Edge" competition. Indeed, they're offering 100 grand, and a Gateway convertible notebook to someone with an innovative business idea.

To enter the "Edge" competition, you need to write a one page concept in 200 words or less, for either launching a new business or expanding an existing one. The emphasis is on how winning the Gateway convertible laptop would give your biz the edge.

Anyway I don't want to reveal more, in case one of you astute folks beats me to the 100K :) I'm off to submit my - "Just Like Bogie - Private Eye" - business summary.

Update! - Gateway's laptop competition has ended.
