New Microsoft Surface Has Grand Plans For Hospitals

Microsoft has developed a new Surface which is dynamic and multi-touch. Doctors are hopeful that it can be used to make sharing information amongst professionals and also with patients considerably easier. But is it a security risk?

Doctors and administrators have already brainstormed over 100 concrete ideas, and thirteen hospitals in Texas have already signed on board with Microsoft to build "practical and innovative functions for the multi-touch screen." The medical world is excited about this, to say the least. Some of the main ideas that were suggested for this innovate screen that is also a computer included the ability to more easily share detailed images like MRIs, EKGs and X-rays in 3D. Doctors were hopeful that they would be able to prepare complex presentations, including video, to show a patient more about a procedure. Patients would be able to 'touch' their way through the information, which is potentially both useful and creepy. There was even talk about transfering data to patients electronically, such as through a USB port to your iPhone. It's interesting, to say the least, and could lead to significantly high patient satisfaction at hospitals. Just remember to erase the memory from your iPhone from time to time or the next guy who picks up your phone might stumble across something you don't want them to. Via wired
