MSI has a lot to brag about at CES this year. Some of their biggest achievements include the ultralite X-Slim, the unique hybrid U115 and the WiMAX ready U120.

The X-Slim 320 notebook is, if you couldn't tell from the name, quite thin. It's overall thickness is listed as a mere 1.98cm (.78") and at its thinnest part is a nearly invisible 6mm (.24"). It is designed for portability and with an 8 cell battery can achieve up to 10 hours of battery life. There's also a 4 cell battery option, which is what we assume you'll need if you want to achieve the supremely light weight of 1.3kg (2.86lbs). By the way, we did say notebook at the beginning, not netbook. The X-Slim 320 is a 13.4" laptop with an optimized 16:9 screen. It has a stylish and fashionable design and is available in Champagne gold, pearl white, and stylish black. No exact word on cost or specs, but this is a laptop that MSI expects to impress with at CES.

The hybrid Wind U115 netbook is the first netbook to be able to simultaneously run SSD and HDD. The advantages of this are primarily battery life and read speed, with a side benefit of being more stable and shock proof. While using a 6 cell battery on a power saving mode, one can squeeze a whopping 12 hours of life out of the U115. The netbook has the OS installed on the smaller SSD so that booting up and background OS tasks will operate more smoothly on the faster, quieter drive. On power saving mode, the SATA drive is entirely disabled, and using only the low power SSD is much of what creates the impressive battery life.

The Wind U120 has the least exciting announcement, but it's still a good one. Those looking for mobile portability will be pleased to hear that not only will the new U120 be 3.5G ready, but MSI is ready to announce that it will be "WiMAX ready" as well. They will be showcasing this at CES.

We'd caught a whiff of the U115 and U120 before, but during CES they will be brightly lit and on display for all to see along with that X-slim. Not a bad haul at all for MSI.
