Gateway CX200 Convertible NotebookMany people would love to take advantage of a tablet PC's handy pen stylus and handwriting capability, without sacrificing desktop replacement performance and power. Now Gateway have released the CX200, a convertible notebook, boasting the latest Pentium M processor, 1GB of Ram, and around 5 hours of battery life.Tablet PCs used to be the bread and butter of journalists, who enjoyed writing reports straight to their laptops, without having to use a keyboard. Now doctors, students, and humble Hans Wursts are catching on to the benefits of convertible notebooks, and are starting to shell out for touchscreen tablets. Andre Gide once said - ".....True intelligence very readily conceives of an intelligence superior to it's own; and this is why truly intelligent men are modest....." Unfortunately it may be difficult for student owners of this Tablet PC to be modest. Especially when they are sitting proudly in class, taking notes (pen and paper feel) on the CX200's beautiful 14 inch widescreen display, while their fellow students scribble away on paper. Perhaps humility will be restored when the student staggers out of the lecture room, burdened by the CX200's 6.9 pound weight.....This Gateway notebook is after all a desktop replacement. The Gateway CX200 is a useful gaming machine as well, indeed PC Mag found the 3DMark 2005 scores very respectable, something they had rarely seen on a tablet PC. They gave this versatile convertible notebook a solid editor's rating. By Todd Gold Tuesday, September 13, 2005 |
