HP is for High Powered: Ode to the Pavilion DV6000T

Image of Hewlett Packard's Pavilion DV6000t
We do a lot of drooling here at Laptopical. We review these uber business laptops that run a couple of grand, or an extraterrestrial gaming puppy that goes for double that. We know we may never get our paws permanently on these machines. But we get excited nevertheless. It's finally nice to drool over a laptop that we could actually, maybe, one day own.
Here I am talking about the HP Pavilion dv6000t, a truly affordable high-powered notebook at a price range of only $800 to $1,200. For that solid but reasonable chunk of change, you can get one fine-looking piece of machinery, with subtle curves, an attractive buffed lid and an attentive comfortable interface.

And this HP notebook is rather slim too. With a 15.4 inch screen and loaded to bear with ports and slots, the Pavilion dv6000t weighs only slightly more than 6 pounds. But the Pavilion dv6000t is worth its weight in semiconductors.

With 1 GB of RAM, the 2.16GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T7400 processor, and a NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400 graphics chip with 128 MB of dedicated RAM and 128 of shared RAM, the Pavilion dv6000t can handle whatever your average user can throw at it. The Pavilion dv6000t won't be able to give you a cutting edge gaming experience. But as I said before, those laptops are in a different ballpark. And if you can't afford to entertain that ballpark, you need to get over it.

Looking at the Pavilion dv6000t will help. Its glossy display with WXGA LCD resolution isn't the highest out there-it is at 1280x800 at its highest setting-but it is dressed to impress nonetheless. And the built-in Altec Lansing set of speakers produce as good a sound as you'll find in a laptop. (The built-in camera is fun too.)

With all these features available at an affordable price, it's not difficult to see why the DV6000t has been one of the best selling multimedia laptops of 2006.
