Belkin Cooling Pad/Desk for Laptops

This unit just debuted at CES 2007 in Vegas and works by channeling heat away from your notebook via a fan. Keeping your portable pal cool is important because of the danger of overheating batteries. It handily plugs into a USB port and will be available in february for a bargain price of $29.99.

Sittinghere shivering in my office on a cold january afternoon, the lastthing on my mind is keeping cool. I'm dreaming of volleyball on asun-kissed Rio beach, or more accurately, I'm dreaming ofwatching beautiful Brazilian women play volleyball to the kitschyrhythm of Wham's "Club Tropicana" on a sun-kissed Riobeach.....But I digress. The editor has asked me to comment onBelkin's imminent laptop cooling pad.

Thetechnology isn't rocket science, Belkin's wave design elevatesyour notebook a little like Lapwork's legs, butwith the added feature of a built in cooling fan that pushes heataway from your laptop. It also creates a channel between thenotebook and the stand that Belkin say enhances the naturalairflow.

Slotting neatly into one of your notebook's USB ports, thecooling deskshould prevent your portable pal from overheating. Why is thisimportant I hear you cry! Well, reports have suggested that hotlaptops may cause infertilityin men. Not only that but the recent spate of exploding notebooks should be reason enough to keep yourmachine running cool. Shelling out a paltry $29.99 to ensure yourfuture heirs, and to help stop your battery over-heating seemslike a great deal.

This laptop coolingpad/desk should be out sometime in february with plans to releaseit worldwide. The unit debuted at CES 2007, and more informationshould soon be available at Belkin.com.
