Gateway 6010GZ, 6510GZ, 7426GX and 3522GZGateway's spring 2005 notebook lineup is bound to give the competition a race for their money. The new models combine high-power technology, sleek design, and an even slimmer price tag.The heavy weight of the new lineup is the Gateway 7426GX. It aims to win the hearts and minds of gamers everywhere. The firepower behind the 7426GX's laptop is provided by its AMD Athlon 64 3700+ mobile processor, the fastest AMD on the market. With its 64-bit processing, the Athlon will only get quicker, too, as more 64-bit applications arrive on the market. In the meantime, gamers will appreciate the ATI Mobility Radeon 9550 with 64MB dedicated graphics memory and 15.4-inch Ultrabright display. Everyone can gawk at the 100GB hard drive and 1GB of DDR memory. While the 7426GX is an undiluted multimedia monster with a price tag around $1549.99, Gateway also unleashed the 6010GZ, one of the cheapest laptops with a 15.4-inch widescreen around. With a suggested retail price of under $1000, it still offers plenty of everyday versatility in a tight little package (6 pounds and only 1.31 inches thick) that's hardly humdrum. The Intel Celeron M 360 processor, 60GB hard drive, and 512MB of DDR memory are suitable for your average business folk, student, and home user. And the 802.11g wireless and integrated BroadRange technology mean these Gateway laptops will perform on the road without a hitch. Buyers can upgrade to the 6510GZ and its suggested price of $1249.99 if they want their widescreen outfitted with an Intel Pentium M processor, Intel Centrino technology, and a writable DVD drive. For an even more super-model-slim chassis, Gateway customers can tote the 5.25 pound, 1.1 inch thick 3522GZ ($1199.99 suggested retail price). Although the 3522GZ opens up to only a 14-inch widescreen, it comes standard with an Intel Pentium M 725 processor and Intel Centrino mobile technology. It's a hot spot hunter with integrated Intel PRO-Wireless 2200BG 802.11b/g wireless connectivity. A 60BG hard drive, 512MB of DDR, and a writable DVD drive round out the laptop without weighing it down. By Matthew Brodsky Tuesday, April 19, 2005 |
