Touch Screen - Fujitsu's Lifebook B6000Fujitsu have come along way from their humble 1930's origins as a phone equipment maker. For the last 50 years they've been effortlessly manufacturing stylish products for our computing delectation, and it seems their latest Lifebook, the Fujitsu B6000 is no exception. This laptop is fitted with a 12.1-inch XGA touch screen display, that Fujitsu boast is 50% brighter than previous offerings. If the user isn't transfixed by the beauty and clarity of the display, he/she can also use the touchscreen to manipulate menu driven programs with a finger. If you are short of space to use a mouse, this is a handy feature normally found only on Tablet PCs. Why did Fujitsu incorporate a touchscreen in this Lifebook? Well they have stated that the B6000 was especially designed for those in the field of healthcare, with it's 6 hour plus battery life, and it's light weight (3.3 pounds), this Lifebook is certainly efficient and portable. The laptop also comes fitted with a 40 GB hard drive, built-in modem and Gigabit Ethernet connections, optional bluetooth, and a Pentium M Processor. Confidentiality and security are always important issues in hospitals. For example if someone stole a hospital laptop, and discovered evidence of the editor's hair implant surgery, it could cause considerable embarrassment. Luckily the B6000 can be equipped with a biometric fingerprint swipe sensor, to keep dodgy data from falling into the wrong hands. Interested in picking up one of these notebooks? The LifeBook B6000 is available in the states from Fujitsu's direct sales force, a basic model costs $1,649. By Todd Gold Monday, June 20, 2005 |
