Unless you have the credit rating of Bill Gates, the purchase of any laptop requires careful consideration. We list one of the most informative web-sites for research. This community provides information, news and reviews about notebook computers. Gaming machines, especially those manufactured by Sager are a speciality.

Sager knowsnotebooks. They specialize in high-end, high-productivity modelsthat could make many desktops downright envious. Sagers tend topack speedy hardware and an arsenal of accessories into a sturdy,business-attire chassis.

All of this good stuff may weigh downmodels like the NP4780 (which checks into laptop fat club at 9+pounds). But these laptops are more desktop-replacement,gamers laptop types than ultralight mobile minis. As technology gurus and notebook nerds will tell you, Sager alsois renowned not only for quality and reliability, but also for its service and parts guarantees. The company offersits customers some of the best warranties on the computingplanet. Lifetime technical support, guaranteed repair turnaroundin 72 hours, 30-day money-back guarantee - all of these comeincluded with a standard 1-year warrantee.

Of course, even with all of these Sager benefits, smart consumers should get some more dirt on thisnotebook brand before pulling out their plastic for the purchase. One of the best sites for such research is Notebookforums.com. The site provides a longscroll-down of threads on all sorts of computers.

On the day of this writing, there were more than 60 threads onthe Notebook Forums.com site, including discussions on Apple,Acer, Alienware, Dell, IBM, and other specific and general laptoptopics. Five of the threads were on Sager.

Notebook Forums.com is run by PCTorque.com. This Austin, Texas-basedretailer sells almost all Sager notebooks, so its homepage isalso a great resource for Sager news and reviews.

I've always been partial to PC laptops - specifically IBM Thinkpads. Working for PwC for 9 years, I had one w/ me all the time and they were sturdy as a tank. Spill coffee on it while poring over accounting records (exciting stuff!) no problem...

I tried a few other manufacturers like Dell, but no luck, I found them cumbersome and lacking the great pointer in the middle that was so much better than the touchpad.
