Back in march, in an article archived by Lockergnome, the editor gazed meaningfully into Laptopical's crystal ball, and predicted that 2005 would be the year of the laptop. He also predicted we'd generate 350 million dollars worth of revenue from the Laptopical IPO, which would result in huge monthly loyalty bonuses, and enable us to shift our base of operations to sunny St Tropez. Now we hear that notebooks, have started to outsell desktop computers in the USA. At least he got something right :(
A whileago, in an article published by Lockergnome, we stated that 2005would be the year of the laptop. We also reported that laptopcomputers had slam-dunked TV sales. Now we hear that notebooks have outsold desktopcomputers in the United States, for the first time in a calendarmonth.
A report compiled by statistics firm, current analysis, revealedthat laptop sales accounted for over 50% of the personal computermarket last month. The main reason why laptops are selling outfaster than a corrupt Moldovian figure skating judge? - Pricesfor advanced models are getting much cheaper,thus increasing the demand for mobile computers.
Once all you could buy for $2000 was a 10kg shoebox with a cdromdrive. Today wireless enabled laptops, with Bluetooth technologyand DVD players, can be purchased for well under a grand, evenless you don't mind going the refurbished route. With ever moreadvanced wireless technology blossoming around us, it's notsuprising that folks are desperate to become part of theincreasingly affordable wi-fi revolution.
